{"id":309,"date":"2021-11-18T09:30:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-18T05:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alphonsedevasia.com\/blog\/?p=309"},"modified":"2022-09-04T10:28:17","modified_gmt":"2022-09-04T06:28:17","slug":"hs2-education-teaching-resources","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alphonsedevasia.com\/blog\/hs2-education-teaching-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"HS2 Education &#038; Teaching resources"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">HS2\u2019s Skills, Employment and Education team has launched a range of brand-new <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hs2.org.uk\/educational-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\">education and teaching resources<\/span><\/a> which&nbsp;align with the national curriculum and promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hs2.org.uk\/educational-resources\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alphonsedevasia.files.wordpress.com\/2021\/09\/screenshot-2021-09-22-at-11.31.07-am.png?w=821\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-882\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The materials, which are free to download have been developed in conjunction with education specialists and promote the link between careers and STEM subjects &#8211; opening pupils\u2019 eyes to the range of opportunities that major infrastructure projects, like HS2, create.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The suite of <span style=\"text-decoration:underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hs2.org.uk\/educational-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">20 resources<\/a><\/span> is tailored to the national curriculum for pupils in Key Stages 1- 4, alongside bespoke resources for SEND pupils and those in further education. The resources are designed to save teachers time and help make lesson planning easier, as most include a teacher\u2019s guide, ready to deliver presentation and a student worksheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The activities bring to life some of the complex construction challenges linked to building HS2 &#8211; such as designing tunnels and installing new bridges, allowing pupils to understand the link between STEM subjects and future career pathways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\">The resources also showcase the breadth of non-construction focused jobs that HS2 supports. Activities and challenges set for students allow them to build their knowledge and understanding of the skills required to support archaeological excavations, as well as ensuring that the natural environment and local wildlife is protected and enhanced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-justify\"><em>HS2 Ltd was set up by the UK Government to develop, build and operate HS2, a national high-speed railway linking London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, with connectivity to the existing rail network.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"HS2: More Capacity, Cutting Carbon and Better Connectivity\" width=\"810\" height=\"456\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/15ALHCAFM7w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
